Hardware Setup / Microscope
The adaptation of the NanoCalc system to a microscope allows to reduce the measurement spotsize to be as small as 4µm or even below depending on the used microscope magnification.
Using the special MFA-C-Mount adapter coupling of the standard fiber probe is possible to almost any microscope with C-Mount exit (like Leitz/Leica, Zeiss, Reichert, Olympus, Nikon). Well stabilized microscope lamp power supply necessary.
Advantages when using a microscope setup:
- exact measurement position can also be inspected visually for better understanding of sample surface structure
- in case of structured samples acurate positioning even in small structures possible
- easy and accurate focus adjustment in case of varying sample thickness
- on very rough or inhomogeneous sampes only the very small measurement spot allows to achieve a measurable interference signal.

Limitation when using a microscope setup:
- Only VIS spectral range (400nm to 850nm) possible as standard microscopes are only designed for visible light. In case of special UV or NIR/IR microscopes this is of course not valid.
